At our business meeting held on December 9th, the Congregation adopted two Board-proposed resolutions regarding our future program, location, facilities, and staff. The vote was overwhelmingly favorable and was taken in the context of strategic planning. As announced and discussed at that meeting, the Board has appointed a Strategic Planning Task Force (SPTF) to develop and recommend specific steps to be taken toward implementing the resolutions, based on the work of its predecessor Long-range Planning Committee. The Board’s charge to the SPTF is posted here.
Mark your calendar and watch for mailing (agenda; other documents below). We’ll hear from our Ministerial Search Committee and Endowment Trustees. And, it’ll be time to vote on RVUUF’s 2008 Budget; Endowment Trust amendment; Covenant of Right Relations; and Long-range Goals, Objectives, & Growth Scenario. Regarding the growth scenario, the Board will ask us all to come to grips with two questions:
Be prepared to offer your thoughts and cast a definitive vote.
Rev. Hanson will look with the Ministerial Search Committee and the Long Range Planning Committee at the Search Survey results. Children will meet their religious education leaders.
Over many moons now, the Long-Range Planning (LRP) Committee has been peering into alternative futures for RVUUF. The Committee now has considered carefully (a) the Vision and Mission statements adopted by the Congregation to direct the LRP process and our church community’s life for the next five to ten years and (b) results from the Ministerial Search Committee’s survey of members and friends. Based thereon and on conversations with many RVUUFians, the LRP Committee has drafted goals, objectives, and alternative growth scenarios for the Congregation to consider. Watch for these study materials in the mail (and download here), and reflect upon them and on your ideas for refinement and adoption. Then bring the materials and those ideas and your dreams for RVUUF’s next decade to this LRP workshop. The Committee will employ the results of this workshop to draft a long-range plan for the Congregation to consider and, hopefully, adopt at its semi-annual meeting in December.
Note: with the acceptance of Long-range Goals, Objectives, & Growth Scenario at the Dec 9, 2007 semi-annual meeting, LRP's work is done; the next phase of work is being carried out by a newly formed Strategic Planning Task Force.
