Topic: "Restorative Justice". Rather than punishment, it is possible for the perpetrator to learn something and the victims to get help dealing with their loss. Wil Van Winkle shared some of this information with our UU Fellowship July 6th. He will go more into depth with our Humanist Group. Topic: "Why Books are Overrated/Is Google Making us Stupid?" Where should we get our information? The first reading is by a literature professor in the May 16 issue of The Week magazine. The second reading is in the July/Aug issue of the Atlantic Monthly. (Look for paper copies of these readings after 8/24 in the UU Library).

Where do ethics come from? Do people need the concept of God in order to have morals and ethics? The Humanists will explore the biological and cultural history of ethics and try to answer the question "What inspires people to do good things?" A short talk back discussion will follow.
