Community Garden Project
RVUUF Community Garden is now a reality. Please check us out. We are behind the Annex. You are invited to join the group. Save your kitchen vegetable waste for our compost. Do you have any unwanted soaker hose or garden tools or a small garden bench that you would like to contribute to the Garden? We are also looking for large stones, pieces of concrete or cinder blocks to form the edges to the raised beds. Contact Aubree Johnson or Jan Limb
Peace Fence
RVUUF's youth have created a Peace Day panel (click to enlarge) as part of Mother's Day celebration this Sunday. You can easily find the Peace Fence in Ashland's Railroad District: head down Fourth Street to A Street; you'll see the fence just across the railroad tracks. A group of artists, writers, poets, children and others have created a fence of artistic panels expressing each contributor's thoughts about peace and the well-being of the planet. Music, poetry, bagpiper, Julia Ward Howe's Mother's Peace Day Proclamation, and more! Come and join the celebration!
The Peace Fence Project honors the historical origins of Mother's Day in this country. Unitarian Universalist participation honors the great Unitarian social reformer and suffragette Julia Ward Howe who, in 1870 as the horrors of the Civil War waged on, conceived the idea of a Mother's Peace Day. As our UU youth participate in this project they grow and learn together building their skills for leadership so that they can claim a space as leaders of future generations. Through this project the youth gave expression to their understanding of the relationship between creating peace and caring for the earth. Their hand prints remind them and us that Earth Peace: It's In Our Hands
Child Dedication
Child Dedication - a tradition in UU congregations, inviting families to dedicate themselves to guide their children in the path of wisdom, justice, health and kindness; and for the congregation to affirm and support the presence of the children as part of this community. Interested? Let Heather Lynn or Janet know ASAP. There will be a brief meeting of interested parents with Heather Lynn Thursday, May 8, 7:00 PM or call her. Probable date: June 1 for the ceremony.

Easter Egg Hunt for All Generations
Immediately following the service before food is shared, youth and adults will be invited to the Front Yard (weather permitting) to hunt for colorful eggs. Coffee will be served immediately after the service and the rest of the food will be available about 15 minutes after the service. All adults are encouraged to join in the egg hunt.
Make your own Easter Hat
Julie Excell and Christine Norton Cotts will have lots of materials for families and kids to make their own wonderful creations. There will be an Easter Parade of Hats during the beginning of the service for everyone to show off their creation!
