Wall Project
Mission: the Building, Aesthetics and Grounds (BAG) Committee keeps the facilities and grounds attractive, neat and clean and in repair.
Toward that end, the committee works individually, in teams, and in coordination with many volunteers on various projects during the year.
On-going projects:
- Twice a year (March and August) BAG organizes major clean-up days. This includes general housekeeping, gardening and small repairs. Carpet cleaning is usually done on this day, windows washed, pews vacuumed and the backs cleaned, garden weeding and trimming, trash hauled away, and items stowed in their proper places. During the rest of the year, individuals and teams donate time to projects that need doing.
- A member of the BAG committee puts up the weekly bulletin board in the lobby and cleans up and prepares the lobby and Great Hall for special performances, events, and Sunday services.
- Members of the BAG committee take responsibility for decorating for Sunday services although this is a volunteer activity for anyone who wishes and is on the Sunday Support volunteer sheet. Likewise, members of the BAG usually decorate for the holidays, make banners and in coordination with the Fundraising Committee purchase needed items.
Major projects this year (2007):
- Repair of the “C” St. sidewalk
- Painting needed areas inside and out
- Building a wall to terrace “C” St. between the sidewalk and the fence.
- Preparing options for the Board for removal or repair of the old shed on the “C” St. side of the Unitarian Center.
- Preparing recommendations for the Board the installation of a bike rack, and chairs to replace the pews.
- Landscaping the NE terrace.
- Pressure washing and staining the fence.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Anyone interested in helping is welcome to join BAG, contact Bill Holmes to add your e-mail address to the BAG list. This will alert you to meetings. Also, many congregants join us for clean-up days.
